Branding

The design challenge for the Halisi branding project was to create a comprehensive brand identity for a hypothetical hair care company specializing in products for curly hair. Named Halisi, drawing from the Swahili language meaning “real, genuine, true, authentic, and original,” the brand aimed to honor the rich heritage of curly hair while embodying values of transparency, authenticity, and empowerment. The task encompassed developing a brand concept that resonated with the target audience, reflected the essence of a natural hair journey, and communicated a commitment to quality and ethical practices.

To bring the Halisi brand to life, extensive research into curly hair care was conducted. This exploration laid the foundation for a brand identity that celebrated the diversity and beauty of natural curls. Initial ideation involved brainstorming sessions to conceptualize the brand’s ethos, mission, and visual identity. 

Typography, color palette, and imagery were carefully selected to reflect the brand’s values and resonate with the target audience. The design process involved iterations, from sketching initial concepts to refining digital prototypes, ensuring coherence and alignment with the brand’s narrative.

The culmination of the design process yielded a comprehensive brand identity that encapsulated the essence of Halisi. A distinctive logo, featuring organic shapes inspired by curly hair patterns, served as the cornerstone of the brand’s visual identity. The color palette, comprising earthy tones and vibrant accents, conveyed a sense of natural beauty and vitality. In addition, cohesive brand collateral, including packaging designs and digital assets, further reinforced Halisi’s commitment to authenticity and transparency.
